i talked to the owner and he doesn.t know what happened.
i talked to a couple spectators and they told me they heard a loud pop [but too loud for any oil line or fuel line but who knows] and then flames started coming out from underneath the driver.s side rear wheel. people signaled him to stop, but the driver thought people were telling him to come to the start bc they might have an extinguisher.
two strikes on that.
1) no extinguisher
2) right next to the neighboring property which is dense with trees around this fall season [have we not learned from LA fires?]

finally put it out and melted to shit. for a while the starter kept going as it was on fire while airbags and tires exploded.
note: if this was not my event, it would have been AWESOME. but it was, so i needed a diaper. i will hopefully have updates to the situation and my insurance this week. [fingers crossed. nervously rocking back and forth in the dark]
